BANGKOK
Bangkok, or "City of Angels", is a city of uncanny chaos anchored by the grandest of palaces. The population
of Bangkok has grown nearly tenfold since World War II. Today, one ou tof every six Thais lives in Bangkok
and its environs. At first glance, the greater metropolitan area of more than 15 million people appears to be a
bewildering melange of new and old, exotic and commonplace, all seemingly tossed together into a gigantic
urban fuss. It is however, one of the most exciting and exotic cities in the world with so much to explore and
experience that no matter the number of days allowed - it will never be enough !

CHIANG MAI / CHAING RAI
Situated 300 metres (1,000ft) above sea level in a broad valley divided by the picturesque 560-km (350 mile)
long Mae Nam Ping River, the city of Chiang Mai reigned for seven centuries as the capital of the Lanna
(Millions Rice Fields) Kingdom, while just the mention of Chiang Rai and the Golden Triangle suggests
wonderful escapes for the adventurous. In its splendid isolation, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai have developed a
culture quite removed from that of the central plains, with wooden temples of exquisite beauty and a host of unique crafts,
including lacquerware, silverwork, wood carvings, ceramics and umbrella making. Visits to Hill Tribes and Elephant
Training Centres makes this destination a unique and fascinating adventure.

HUA HIN / CHA AM
Hua Hin, approximately 2 1/2 hours drive south of Bangkok, is Thailand's oldest major beach resort, while
it's nextdoor neighbour, Cha-Am enjoys a slightly smaller resort atmosphere. Both resorts boast long
uncluttered beaches, while Hua Hin, larger than Cha-am, has the added attraction of a traditional
fishing port. Neither place attempts to imitate the international scene and are content with an
enduring Thai identity.
Hua Hin was put on the map in 1910 by the brother of King Rama VI, Prince Chakrabongse, who led a party of European and
Thai royalty down the peninsula to hunt game. The King built his palace there and to this day Hua Hin is recognised
as the holiday choice of the Royal Family. The town has a thriving night market with a range of food stalls,
restaurants and shops that are open late to satisfy the appetite of visitors.
